Next Steps for New Believers
Welcome to the Kingdom Redemption Project!
If you’ve recently decided to follow Jesus—or if you’re seriously exploring what it means to
trust Him—congratulations! This is the beginning of an incredible journey with God. You’re
not alone; the Holy Spirit now lives in you, and we’re here to support you with simple,
biblical guidance, practical tools, and real community.
Understanding Salvation: God’s Greatest Gift
Salvation is God’s completely free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. It’s made
possible by Jesus’ death on the cross (paying the penalty for our sins) and His resurrection
(proving victory over sin and death).
It starts with repentance—turning away from sin and self-centered living—and faith:
believing Jesus is who He says He is (God’s Son) and trusting Him alone as your Savior and
Lord. When you do this, you enter a personal, living relationship with God—not rules or
religion, but a friendship where Jesus is your guide, forgiver, friend, and King.
The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, gives us new life, seals us as God’s children, and
empowers us to live differently (John 3:16; Acts 2:38; Ephesians 1:13-14). You didn’t earn
this by good deeds—it’s received by grace through faith alone, bringing forgiveness, peace
with God, and fresh purpose.
If you’re ready to take that step (or reaffirm it), pray something like this from your heart:
“Lord Jesus, I admit I’m a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins
and rose again. I turn from my old ways and invite You into my life as Savior and Lord. Fill
me with Your Holy Spirit and help me follow You. Amen.”
Your Next Steps: Building a Strong Foundation
Growth happens over time—be patient with yourself, as God is patient with you. These
aren’t burdensome rules but joyful pathways to deeper joy, strength, and purpose in
Christ. Start small, stay consistent, and trust God to work in you (Philippians 1:6).
- Assure Your Heart of Salvation Rest in God’s promises. You can know you’re
saved based on His Word, not feelings (1 John 5:13). If doubts come, talk to God
about them and read passages like Romans 8:38-39 or John 10:28-29. - Read the Bible Daily God’s Word is your spiritual nourishment and light for life.
Start with the Gospel of John (to meet Jesus personally) or a simple daily plan. Even
10-15 minutes a day transforms you (Psalm 119:105; 2 Timothy 3:16-17). - Pray Regularly—Talk to Your Heavenly Father Prayer is honest conversation with God. Thank Him, confess sins, share your needs, and listen. Pray anytime, anywhere—no special words required (1 Thessalonians 5:17; Philippians 4:6-7).
- Connect with a Bible-Believing Church Find a local church that faithfully teaches the Bible. Attend regularly for worship, teaching, and encouragement. Check our Church & Group Directory for options near you (Hebrews 10:24-25).
- Pursue Discipleship Deepen your walk through mentoring, classes, or our free training resources. Learn to apply God’s Word daily and share your faith as opportunities arise.
- Build Fellowship with Other Believers Surround yourself with Christians for support, accountability, and growth. Join a small group, Bible study, or connect one-on-one—it’s how we spur one another on (Proverbs 27:17).
- Worship and Serve Praise God through song, gratitude, and daily life. Attend services or worship at home. As you grow, look for ways to serve others—it reflects Christ’s love (Psalm 100:2; Galatians 5:13).
- Consider Getting Baptized This is a key step of obedience and public declaration of your faith. It pictures dying to your old life and rising to new life in Christ. Talk to a trusted pastor soon about believer’s baptism (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38).
These steps help you grow in your relationship with Jesus. Remember: growth takes time,
but God who began this good work in you will carry it to completion (Philippians 1:6).
